Halloween

Aeryn has had a rough time for a few days - fussy off and on and sucking on fingers, hands, whatever, with lots of drool. Today she had a fever all day that would come back when the Tylenol wore off. I didn't know if she would make trick-or-treating. But she rallied just in time! I was so glad - I took Aeryn around the neighborhood for Halloween. She had picked out a turtle costume about a month ago and fortunately when she saw it tonight, she was excited again to wear it. We started at 5:30 by joining all the neighborhood kids/adults in a parade down a couple of streets. We were towards the front of the parade, but by the time Aeryn stopped to admire all the jack-o-lanterns along the way, we ended up being way behind everyone else. She was just fascinated with all the decorations and getting to talk to people along the way who were sitting out in chairs in their driveways. One man was dressed as a Jackson Chameleon and was hanging onto his palm tree (where those chameleons are often found). He had a tongue that flipped in and out and Aeryn wasn't sure if he was scary or fun. Finally, she said, "Goodbye, tongue" and headed down the street. The first person who offered her candy took her by surprise and she was very excited - she got a "snack" in her bucket. Then a friend gave her a lollipop - that couldn't go in the bucket because she loves lollipops. After that we stopped at a few more houses and she would say "Halloween" and "snack" and her haul started. She had so much fun. We ran into one of her little playgroup friends, Zachary, the angel in the picture. The two of them were intrigued by a fire in a pot that wasn't hot. Sometimes when people opened their doors, she would just walk in, not caring about the "snack" but wanting to visit. I couldn't believe she kept the turtle head and feet on the whole time she was out. When we got home, the rest of the lollipop went in the fridge for tomorrow. I just hope the fever is gone and she feels good again. Happy Halloween, everyone!
