Mainland Trip

Our trip started and ended in Ohio with Barbara and Phil hosting us over and over again - we can't thank them enough for all they did! It was a great place to have Easter, too. Aeryn loved coloring the Easter eggs. Too bad the first batch were actually raw eggs! Oh well, the hard-boiled eggs were fun to color, too! Then Barbara had made a wonderful Easter basket for Aeryn with a lamb, a ball, and lots of good candies in it. We then had an egg hunt and Aeryn learned that those little plastic eggs actually have chocolates inside. (At our house they were always empty!) She became a total chocoholic.

Next we went to Tulsa to visit Papa/Tom who was re-training there for 6 weeks. Eric flew to OKC then drove up to Tulsa to spend some time with us, too, so it was great to get to see him again. Aeryn actually called him Eric most of the time instead of the usual "Kurt". We stayed at a cabin owned by a friend of Tom's in Jenks. It was so much nicer than a hotel. In front was a big pond with Canada geese and fish to watch, and in back was a trampoline and a fenced-in area where there were 2 buffaloes and 2 cows. We were told we could feed the buffaloes "treats" but they became a bit fierce when Aeryn didn't let go of the food in time. That was a little scary, but it was a really nice time to be together. We were sorry Megan couldn't get off work to join us, too.

From Tulsa we went to Knoxville to visit Marti and Kylan. Tom's sister, Jean, drove down from near Dayton to spend a couple days and a night with us, too, driving for 6 hours in the rain - what a trooper! Thanks, Jean! We enjoyed our visit with Marti and Kylan. They have a cute little apartment in a small, historic town called Loudon. We met Marti after work each day and had time for playgrounds and dinner. It was a nice reunion for all of us.

After Knoxville, we traveled to Cape Coral to visit Suzi and Paul, Hank & Kyle. Suzi hosted a family get-together so we had a day with Walt, Jackie, and Keely; Pat; Dave & Nancy and their four kids (so big now!) That was fun! Aeryn had a great time in Florida, going out on Uncle Paul's boat to see dolphins, going to the water park, the local beach/playground, and hanging out in the wading pool with Cinnamon. Uncle Paul brought out his usual array of singing and dancing animals - the turkey, duck, 2 gorillas, etc., plus the blocks and a small wooden rocking boat. It's like going to Disneyland!

From Florida we went back to Barbara's, then to Toronto and back to Barbara's, so there are more pictures in the next blog. Aeryn did great on all the flights, mostly staying in her car seat and playing/reading, etc. We had 14 flights altogether, so I am waiting to see how many frequent flyer miles she has now - not a bad start in life! Thank God, we stayed healthy for the whole trip and really had a wonderful time seeing everyone we got to see. I don't know when we will do it again (whew!) but it was sure fun!
