Tuesday was Alex's 31st birthday (Alex is my "hanai daughter") and she wanted to take Aeryn hiking in a backpack for her birthday. So at 4:00 we went over to Lanikai, put Aeryn in the backpack and headed up for the bunkers. It is really steep, even though it is a fairly short hike. Aeryn thought it was pretty nice to be up so high looking down on the tiny little canoes and people and cars. We got her out of the backpack and let her walk around on top for a little while, then Aeryn wanted to walk down herself. After she slipped a couple of times, we put her back and Alex carried her down. She was going pretty fast, jumping from rock to rock and Aeryn was laughing wildly for most of it, then all of a sudden she started to whimper and said, "Mama, I scared." Aww. No more jumping. We got home and friends came over for dinner, so Aeryn had a fun time being social til she just about dropped off to sleep sitting in a chair around 8 pm! Big day.
