Here are a few of the things we have been doing before Christmas -
Aeryn has had a fever for the past 3 days, but today seemed to be feeling better, so we went to Pearlridge Mall to ride the little kiddie's train around. She was fascinated by all the decorations around the train. Then we rode on a monorail to get to another part of the shopping center and went to see Santa. She was pretty excited to see him and sit on his lap for a few seconds. She told him what she wanted (a cookie) then quickly hopped down so I couldn't get too many pictures. I bought the photographer's package! After that, we got in the car and drove to find the original "Dave's Original Ice Cream" Shop - tucked away in a remote little corner of Aiea! Bill had given us a Groupon so we had to get it used before it expired! So Aeryn's food today: waffle, chocolate chip cookie from Santa, and ice cream from Dave's. Amazing she fell asleep for her nap!
Our church has an annual Trolley La La La where they bring in two Waikiki trolleys all decorated for Christmas. While waiting for the ride to go caroling around Kailua and Lanikai, there is a chili dinner, Christmas cookies, and a couple of crafts for the kids to make. Aeryn was all about peeling the backs off of the sticky foam pieces and putting them on her antlers - and then all over the plastic tablecloth, too. Then she loved riding on the trolley - the singing was fun, but getting to ride standing up and holding on to a railing at 30 mph was the best - no car seat! It was a pretty fun night. Her two best carols are Silent Night and Glo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ria in Excelsis Deo! Jingles Bells is fun, too.
Santa also visited our neighborhood one night so we walked over to where he was and she sat on his lap. When he asked what she wanted for Christmas, she said, "A candy cane!", knowing that was the reward after sitting on his lap. I like it!
